ABSTRACT:
The gut microbiome is a vital part of human health, affecting digestion, immunity, heart health, metabolism, brain function, and even cancer. An imbalance (dysbiosis) can lead to diseases like obesity, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and mood disorders. Diet, age, and environment influence the microbiome's balance.Therapies like probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, and fecal transplants show promise but face challenges like individual differences and lack of standardization. Future research focuses on personalized treatments, engineered microbes, gut viruses and fungi, and AI-driven data analysis to better understand and treat microbiome-related diseases.
