ABSTRACT:
Artemisia is an ancient Chinese herbal drug which, scientists found newly use in treatment of various diseases like malaria, cancer, etc.. This aim of this study was to overview its anti-cancer properties. This review was carried out by searching articles in Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. The initial search strategy identified approximately 20 references. In this study, 4 studies were accepted for further reviews. Artemisia was found out to be very efficient against cancer. It contained several chemical constituents which were able to show inhibitory effects against various types of cancer cell lines. Some of them even matched the efficacy of popular chemotherapeutic drugs used nowadays for cancer treatment. In this review, anti-cancer activity of plants Artemisia annua and Artemisia vulgaris are presented using published articles from scientific sites.
