ABSTRACT:
Fast Dissolving Oral Films are the most technologically sophisticated oral solid dosage form available; they dissolve and disintegrate in the mouth in just one minute when taken without water or chewing. Using these rapidly dissolving oral films helps reduce the danger of choking for both younger and older people. There are several methods used to formulate Oral Dissolving Films (ODFs), however solvent casting and spraying are the most often used. Hydrophilic polymers, plasticizers, flavours, colours, and sweeteners are commonly used in the production of ODFs. As a result, the integrated active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) can be released from the films quickly and in a matter of seconds. Films that dissolve in the mouth have a lot of advantages over tablet. Therefore the industry might have high business potential for them. All things considered, ODFs demonstrated good mechanical qualities, such as tensile strength, folding endurance, and percentage elongation, and HPMC is a great film forming for making ODFs. This review explains the evaluation aspects and formulation approach.
