ABSTRACT:
Garcinia spicata, a species in the Clusiaceae family, is native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. This plant, with its glossy leaves, yellowish-green flowers, and edible fruit, has been used in traditional medicine for treating gastrointestinal issues, inflammation, and infections. Its phytochemical profile includes phenolic compounds, alkaloids, terpenoids, and organic acids, contributing to antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-obesity effects. Pharmacological studies suggest potential hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, highlighting its medicinal value. Despite limited scientific evidence, Garcinia spicata shows promise as a therapeutic resource for future research.
