ABSTRACT:
The Philippines conducts different kinds of medical missions and programs that align with the DOH's public health initiatives. However, there is still a rampant increase in percentages of Filipinos being sick, even dying, because of the inaccessibility of the programs. This study aims to ascertain the availability and uptake of the local government-established programs in Barangay Malagasang 1-G and Buhay na Tubig, Imus, Cavite, Philippines. The study identifies the programs that are most and least accessible, as well as the potential causes of inaccessibility and resident engagement. Three hundred and eighty-two (382) responses were obtained from the people living in the two barangays using a descriptive research methodology and using a 3-choices questionnaire. Questions were adapted from the DOH list of public health programs. In conclusion, the study highlights significant barriers to accessibility and participation in public health programs in the City of Imus, Cavite, particularly within the barangays of Malagasang 1-G and Buhay na Tubig. The data revealed that financial constraints are the primary factor preventing residents in Malagasang 1-G from participating in the available programs. In contrast, the primary challenge in Buhay naTubig appears to be a lack of awareness, with 34% of respondents indicating they were unaware of the programs. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to address the barriers each barangay faces. This study emphasizes the need to develop infrastructure, make services affordable, and disseminate information effectively. This report provides useful information about the healthcare initiatives in Imus, Cavite's urban areas.
