ABSTRACT:
Shampoo is a cosmetic preparation used to clean hair, making the scalp and hair cleaner, softer, easier to manage, and shinier. Lime (Citrus auratofolia) is one of the plants commonly used as a cooking ingredient and also as medicine. This study aimed to formulate shampoo preparations containing lime peel extract and to evaluate them using organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, foam height tests, and inhibitory activity tests against Candida albicans. This research was conducted in the pharmaceutical laboratory in July, and the research population was lime peel. The inhibitory activity test method used was the agar diffusion method. The results showed that lime peel extract contained flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins. Lime peel extract could be formulated into an antifungal shampoo preparation because it fulfilled the criteria for shampoo preparations. A shampoo containing 5% lime peel extract showed the best antifungal inhibitory activity against Candida albicans, with an inhibition zone of 19.8 mm, which was categorised as very strong. Conclusion: The lime peel ethanol extract can be formulated into a shampoo because it meets the organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, and foam height requirements. Lime peel extract shampoo inhibited the growth of Candida albicans at all concentrations, with the highest inhibitory activity observed at 5% (19.8%), categorised as strong inhibition
