ABSTRACT:
The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of herbal bleach prepared using natural ingredients such as lemon extract, licorice extract, aloe vera gel, turmeric, sandalwood, and papaya extract. Herbal cosmetics are gaining popularity due to their safety, effectiveness, and reduced side effects compared to synthetic products. The prepared herbal bleach was formulated by incorporating herbal ingredients into a semisolid base with continuous stirring and mild heating. The formulation was evaluated for physical appearance, colour, odour, consistency, pH, spreadability, washability, and viscosity. The prepared formulation showed smooth texture, good spreadability, acceptable pH, and satisfactory viscosity suitable for topical application. The pH of the prepared herbal bleach was found to be approximately 5.8, which is compatible with skin. The viscosity was determined using Ostwald viscometer and the formulation exhibited satisfactory flow properties. The prepared herbal bleach was found to be stable, non-irritant, and cosmetologically acceptable. The study concluded that herbal bleach can be used as a safer and effective alternative to synthetic chemical bleaching products.
