ABSTRACT:
Roghan-e-Turb is a classical Unani medicated oil traditionally used for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, particularly in ear-related disorders. The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate Roghan-e-Turb using the juice of Raphanus sativus incorporated into Sesamum indicum oil following standard pharmacopeial procedures. The prepared formulation was subjected to organoleptic, physicochemical, and chemical evaluation to assess its quality and stability. The organoleptic characteristics were found to be consistent with standard references. Physicochemical parameters such as specific gravity, density, and viscosity were within acceptable limits, with slight variations due to the presence of phytoconstituents. Chemical analysis revealed that the acid value was within permissible limits, indicating low rancidity, while saponification and iodine values were close to standard ranges, confirming stability and appropriate unsaturation. The solubility profile supported the lipid nature of the formulation. Overall, the results indicate that the formulated Roghan-e-Turb complies with standard quality parameters and validates its traditional use as a safe and effective analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. Further studies are recommended to establish its pharmacological mechanism and clinical efficacy.
